This seminar is focused on helping Illinois journalists cover the national opioid crisis. There are some seats available for journalists outside of Illinois.

Chicago and Cook County are at the center of a national crisis. The Chicago Metropolitan area ranks first nationwide in emergency department mentions for heroin use. Cook County ranks first in the nation for percentage of arrestees testing positive for opiates. Downstate counties have seen opioid overdose cases rise between 300% to 600% in the last five years.
