Arthur Gregg Sulzberger

Deputy Publisher, The New York Times

A.G. Sulzberger is the deputy publisher at The New York Times. Until recently, he was an associate editor, overseeing newsroom strategy and working with leaders across the company to plan and execute The Times’ digital transition.

The early work of his team included leading the implementation of the recommendations of The Times’ Innovation Report, which was produced by a group he led. The widely cited report focused on emerging trends affecting the media business.

Sulzberger joined The Times in 2009 and has worked as a reporter and editor on the metro desk.

Emilio Garcia-Ruiz

Managing Editor, Digital, The Washington Post

Emilio Garcia-Ruiz is the Managing Editor of Digital at The Washington Post. As the Managing Editor in charge of Digital, I stand in a unique role at the intersection of advertising, engineering and content creation, taking in a terrific view of the metamorphic disruption and opportunity that exists in media today. After working in all three areas, across desktop and mobile, at one of the world’s leading media companies I develop, implement and execute a complete digital strategy. I love the challenges and possibilities ahead and possess the creativity and determination needed to succeed.

Lori Bergen

Founding Dean, College of Media, Communication and Information at the University of Colorado Boulder

Dr. Lori Bergen is the founding dean of the College of Media, Communication and Information at the University of Colorado Boulder. Previously, she was the dean of the J. William and Mary Diederich College of Communication at Marquette University. Bergen was also named the journalism “Administrator of the Year” by AEJMC/Scripps. She started her career as a reporter, and then moved over to TV and became a producer and host. She then went to the academy, and eventually earned a Ph.D. from the Indiana University School of Journalism.

Mitra Kalita

Vice President for Programming, CNN Digital

S. Mitra Kalita is the vice president for programming at CNN Digital. She was previously managing editor for editorial strategy at the Los Angeles Times. During her year there, she helped latimes.com traffic soar to nearly 60 million uniques monthly, innovated new forms of storytelling and audience engagement, and connected the Times to new communities via events, new beats, translations and partnerships.

She served as the executive editor (at large) for Quartz, Atlantic Media’s global economy site, and was its founding ideas editor.

Alexandra Zayas

Enterprise Editor, Tampa Bay Times

Alexandra Zayas supervises a team of award-winning writers, edits the monthly Floridian magazine and works with reporters across the newsroom on some of the Tampa Bay Times’ most ambitious stories.

As an investigative reporter, she won the 2013 Selden Ring Award for Investigative Reporting, the Livingston Award for Young Journalists and a Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism and was a finalist in the Pulitzer Prize for her three-part series “In God’s Name,” which uncovered abuse at unlicensed religious children’s homes across Florida.
