Alexandra Zayas

General Assignment Reporter, Tampa Bay Times

Alexandra Zayas is a general assignment reporter at the Tampa Bay Times, writing enterprise stories out of Tampa. In her seven years with the Times, she has covered state courts, breaking news and neighborhoods. She is drawn to stories requiring intimate access. Her favorite ones have immersed her in the worlds of self-proclaimed vampires, war-scarred veterans, and players on both sides of the law. She has taught a class at The Poynter Institute about finding and telling untold stories.

Sara Quinn

Sara Quinn teaches and speaks about visual journalism, leadership and multimedia. She led Poynter’s college fellowship and its partnerships with universities for several years. Sara directed Poynter’s EyeTrack research of newspaper, tablet and online reading habits, which helps journalists determine the best forms for storytelling. She also directed Poynter’s custom training with universities for students and educators.

Wendy Wallace

Wendy Wallace oversees Poynter’s grants and assists with other advancement work for the Poynter Foundation and is a member of the Poynter faculty.

She was editor of her high school and college newspapers and interned during her college summers at The Washington Post, Milwaukee Journal and St. Petersburg Times (now Tampa Bay Times). After graduating with bachelor’s degrees in journalism and operations and systems management and an MBA in marketing from Indiana University, she came to work as a reporter for the Times in 1986.
