Poynter to Host TEDx Conference: The Future of Journalism

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – “In the spirit of ideas worth spreading,” The Poynter Institute will host TEDxPoynterInstitute, a program created by TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design). Poynter’s local, independent, self-organized event is operated under license from TED and will bring people together to share a TED-like experience. The event will be held at Poynter on Saturday, October 28, from 9:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

“During this one-day TEDx event, participants will collaborate with thought leaders to complete the sentence: ‘The future of journalism is …’,” said Poynter’s Ellyn Angelotti, who as faculty for Digital Trends and Social Media, will lead the conference. “Numerous speakers who are influential in social media will explore future possibilities within journalism.” Journalists, bloggers, social media users or strategists, entrepreneurs and anyone else interested in the future of journalism are encouraged to attend.

Tickets are $75 until October 14. Tickets purchased after October 14 will be priced at $99. Some student discounts are available. Seating is limited to 100 people. All talks will be live-streamed and recorded. A Tweetup will follow the event.
