Shanna DiNobile is the Online Community Manager at the Poynter Institute. Shanna facilitates rich conversation by creating and cultivating a community of lifelong learners within Poynter’s audience of journalists, bloggers, communications professionals, and social media users.
Shanna’s previous adventures created a serendipitous skill set that brought her to Poynter. She has freelanced in television production for Major League Baseball’s Tampa Bay Rays and Discovery Kids, coordinated marketing and promotions for CBS Radio and Yelp Tampa Bay, and was a project manager in the software startup industry.
As a pursuer of all things tech/media in the arts and science of communication studies, Shanna completed a B.A. in Radio/Television and M.A. in Mass Communication from the University of Central Florida. Her Master’s thesis explored the relationship between online communities and how their engagement fostered greater uses and gratifications among corresponding television programs.
Shanna was born, raised and lives in sunny Saint Petersburg, Florida. When she puts her smartphone down, you may catch her drinking tea, creating ceramic pottery, or coaching competitive youth teams for the Chargers Soccer Club of Tampa Bay.
