Ron Reason

Visual Journalism

Ron Reason has been closely affiliated with Poynter since the late 1980s, serving as a frequent guest presenter, then full time faculty and Director of Visual Journalism for five years, and later, Visiting Faculty. He is a Chicago based consultant specializing in rebranding and redesigning of newspapers worldwide. He has created design and editing strategies for clients in Dubai, Dallas, Orlando, Boston, Chicago, New York City, Nairobi, Lagos, San Francisco and London, and for specialty publications such as The Harvard Crimson, Advertising Age, and Our Sunday Visitor, the national Catholic weekly. Ron has conducted staff training and organizational consulting at the largest newspaper companies in Brazil, India, Singapore, Denmark, Norway and Spain. His current work is based on revenue generation (and thus, survival) through innovation. He has taught at the University of South Florida (Tampa), Ringling College of Art and Design (Sarasota) and elsewhere.
