Julie Moos is Director of Poynter Online and is responsible for the direction and operation of the Institute’s website, which has been rated journalists’ number one source of industry information. Julie is also responsible for the Institute’s book publishing, including the recent collection of front pages telling the story of the Kennedys through 50 years and the collection of front pages chronicling the election and inauguration of Barack Obama, a New York Times bestseller for six weeks.

Julie started blogging in 2003, at MomintheMirror.com,and created and edited DotMoms (http://www.dot-moms.com), the first group weblog for mothers. From 2003-2008, DotMoms published momoirs about all aspects of parenting, creating a stable of writers that continued to find new ways to connect mothers online.

Before joining Poynter in 2002, Julie was Managing Editor of WRAL.com, the website for WRAL-TV in Raleigh, a locally-owned CBS affiliate. Julie worked at the station for 7 years as managing editor, website producer, newscast writer, graphics coordinator and Chyron operator. She worked in video production while a graduate student at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill and in book publishing while an undergraduate at Barnard College in New York.

Julie lives in Safety Harbor, Fla., with her husband Gary and teenage son Colter.
