As former Director of Poynter Online, Julie Moos was responsible for the direction and operation of the Institute’s website, which has been rated journalists’ number one source of industry information. Julie was also responsible for the Institute’s book publishing, including the recent collection of front pages telling the story of the Kennedys through 50 years and the collection of front pages chronicling the election and inauguration of Barack Obama, a New York Times bestseller for six weeks.
Before joining Poynter in 2002, Julie was Managing Editor of WRAL.com, the website for WRAL-TV in Raleigh, a locally-owned CBS affiliate. Julie worked at the station for 7 years as managing editor, website producer, newscast writer, graphics coordinator and Chyron operator. She worked in video production while a graduate student at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill and in book publishing while an undergraduate at Barnard College in New York.
