Jana L. Jones joined the St. Petersburg Times in March 2004 as Chief Financial Officer, bringing with her 20 years of financial experience from banking and newspapers. As CFO she is responsible for all accounting functions, financial analysis and reporting, strategic planning, investments, risk management and corporate relationships with bankers, attorneys and auditors. Jana holds B.S. and M.B.A degrees in Finance from California State University. She joined The Bakersfield Californian in 1996 as Controller after holding financial positions in banking, construction and the beverage industry and was named CFO in 2001. Jana spent 13 years in banking, including a post at the American National Bank and its subsequent owner, Wells Fargo, with a focus on commercial lending, credit examination, and financial forecasting. In 2007 Jana was named a Vice President at the Times, assuming the additional responsibilities of Human Resources and Information Technology and was elected to the Times Publishing Co. Board of Directors. She is also Treasurer for the Poynter Institute for Media Studies. While in California, Jana volunteered her time with the American Cancer Society and Boy Scouts of America. She is a past board member and former Treasurer of the Bakersfield South Rotary. She is also was a long time member of the Board of Directors for the International Newspaper Financial Executives and a member of the Independent Newspaper Group. Locally, she serves on the Board of Ruth Eckerd Hall and was recently elected to the Board of the YMCA of St. Petersburg. Jana and is an avid golfer and has two sons, Brandon and Andrew.
