Elissa Yancey, MSEd, is the director of special projects at the McMicken College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Cincinnati. An alumna of Northwestern University’s School of Education and Social Policy, she has more than 20 years of teaching and reporting experience, including a stint as environmental editor at WCPO.com, the Scripps affiliate in Cincinnati. She has developed two online courses covering science and environmental reporting for Poynter e-learning and her writing is published nationally. An inaugural Restorative Narrative fellow of the non-profit Images and Voices of Hope, she is a member of the Society of Environmental Journalists and champions underrepresented story sources in her work and in her teaching.
